An Unexpected Reunion

Kevin's grandmother passed away in May and we found ourselves heading to Houston. As with most funerals, while it was a sad occasion, it was good to visit with relatives and friends that you don't normally get to see. We also managed a few nice pictures that are below.

A word about Kevin's grandmother...Barbara Taparauskas was 87 years old, was in the Navy before attending college at The University of Alabama ("Roll Tide") and she and Kevin's grandfather had 7 children; Kevin's dad being the oldest. She taught math (I wish she would have taught me word problems - sounded much better than any math teachers I ever had) and she and her husband put all 7 children through private Catholic school. She was a neat lady who enjoyed being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Up until last year, she would still show us how she could bend over and touch the ground! We are so glad that we were able to celebrate her birthday with her this past Easter, but she is definitely missed. In fact, Sarah says every so often, "I miss Daddy's grandma."

The Tap cousins

A distant cousin...she told her mom, "I want him. He is mine."
He is adorable in his sweater vest and
what girl doesn't like a sippy cup?
