Nathan's 9 Month Check-up

As of yesterday, Nathan is officially 9 months old! He and Mommy went to the doctor for a couple of shots, which turned into a major ordeal because not only were they running late, but Nathan has another ear infection! I've lost count as to how many he's had, but if he gets one more, it's off to the ENT. With Sarah, I felt bad when we had to do that visit (which luckily she didn't need ear tubes), but with baby #2, my feelings are much different. Whatever will work, let's go for it! Funny how attitudes change...of course I hope we won't have to make that visit, but I won't feel like the Worst Mommy of the Year (the usual guilt of the working mom) if he does indeed end up with ear tubes.

Another issue that added to our long doctor's visit was that the doctor thinks Nathan might be allergic to milk! So for the next two weeks before we head back to the doctor for a follow up ear check and 9 month blood test (the doctor held off since Nathan was already getting two shots and poked and prodded for his ear), we'll see if his chest congestion and eczema clears up. Apparently these are all signs of a milk allergy. Who knew?! This is also what happens when you don't see your regular doctor for the myriad of ear infections...but that's beside the point.

So, getting to the most important part - the statistics. For those of you that have seen him, all of these illnesses have not hurt Nathan's ability to gain weight. He is lower on the scale, only weighing in at a little over 22 lbs - so only at the 80%, which caused Kevin to ask if he was "lighter" due to his spitting up all the time and illnesses. I think he's okay, and only having to lug 53 lbs around (I get to carry him and his 31 lb sister at the same time quite often) seems good to me!

Okay, next statistic. He's still at 75% for height and his head, well, the doctor didn't give me the statistic on that, but it's still big, and he's not going to be wearing any of those baby hats again!

One other thing, I mentioned Nathan's spitting up earlier. Again for those of you familiar with this issue of his, it appears to have stopped! In the last two weeks, Nathan has spit up just tiny amounts, which is more normal. Thank goodness! Sarah only wanted him to sit in his Bumbo when in her room (no spitting up on her things), and that was impossible now that Nathan is so mobile and so large.

So, sorry there are no pictures and excuse my lack of brevity, but I wanted to update you all.
