Calgon, Take Me Away!

I thought I'd post this since I know you've been there. Tonight, Kevin is at a UT alumni event and I'm in charge of the kiddos. We got home, dinner went really well (granted, I still haven't eaten myself), although it was a little slow and then it was bathtime. The bath started out alright until something didn't go Sarah's way and then she started in with the crying. Oh, she wanted to get out and then she wouldn't, so I got Nathan out. That's what started the crying. She wanted to be first. Ugh. I ignored Sarah and finished drying off Nathan and let him run around the upstairs bathroom while I was getting Sarah out. I'm dealing with her and I hear the toilet seat open and quickly slam shut. Not a huge deal. Once I had her dry, we look into where the toilet is and there's Nathan, naked. At first I didn't think anything of it and then I realized that he had had his hooded towel on, and well, where was it? It wasn't on the floor by the toilet or anywhere else in the bathroom. I lift up the lid of the toilet and what was in there???? The towel and a toy! My baby turns 1 year old tomorrow and already he is super fast. So toilets, geez. I think I've got a lock around here somewhere...

Oh yeah, I have to add our bedtime experience tonight too. Normally, one of us takes one child and we go through a whole routine. When it's just me, I'll let Sarah sit on my lap with Nathan while we read him one book. I pulled out Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes, which he got really animated about and was going to read that. Sarah started in again that she wanted to pick out the book and it escalates. I tell her that it's Nathan's choice and this is what he wants, she can choose her books when it's her bedtime, etc. So, while I go forward with reading/singing his book, Sarah starts screaming at the top of her lungs. I kept reading/singing the book and moving the book so that we couldn't see Sarah's face (I wasn't too obvious). Because I'm so nice, I decided to read/sing the book again b/c I figured if one time through didn't make Nathan drowsy, a screaming 3-year old for another reading will definitely help. Luckily, Nathan didn't have any trouble going to sleep and apparently, neither did his sister (knock on wood).

When is Kevin getting home again?

I'm hoping that both kiddos stayed asleep until Kevin got home. And after reading your post, I'm going to do my best not to take for granted the time that I have from now until baby #2.
