September was a big month at Sarah and Nathan's school. Every Tuesday and Thursday they got to wear something fun, like Crazy Sock Day, or PJ Day. But there were a couple of days that took the cake - Super Hero Day and Tacky Day. Until then, Sarah wasn't familiar with super heroes. She knows who Spiderman is, but doesn't understand HIM. Now, if it were Princess Day, we'd have been all over that, but what was I going to do? I decided to stop by a funky toy store on my way home from work since I wouldn't have time to stitch together a cape, and was hoping I'd find a Superman sticker or something she could wear. I found something much better, the "How to Be a Superhero" book by Klutz. It is great - it comes with reversible masks, wristbands, stickers and a cape. It also explains what super heroes do, how to come up with a name, etc. Sarah was pretty excited when she saw everything and we immediately went to work on coming up with a name for her and Nathan. The best thing about the book was that while it only had one cape, it had multiple stickers, masks, etc., so Nathan could wear the stuff too! Anyway, we decided on Super Sarah and Captain Nathan for their super hero names.
On the big day, Kevin brought the camera to school so I could see them all decked out. As you can see, Sarah thought she was pretty cool. The best part is that when I picked her up at the end of the day, the cape was off, but she was still wearing her mask, wristbands and sticker. When I asked if she had worn it all day (thinking surely, not), she told me that she only took them off at naptime! Too cute.
In the nursery, showing her outfit off to the ladies

Captain Nathan, doing his karate moves on Super Sarah

Sarah with her class. There was a Supergirl,
but only our child had a mask!
Looks like Super Sarah and Supergirl
will fight crime together...
Captain Nathan would rather be incognito
Tacky Day aka a parents' dream. I had to take Nathan
for his 12-month check up this day and was
regretting our outfit choice. Don't worry -
I told everyone what was going on!
