I just had to post about our evening tonight. I was at a seminar at UT from 8 am - 5 pm today and then got to drive in the rain to pick up the kids. Now normally, it takes 35 minutes or so, but today, I was lucky enough to make the same trek in 1.5 hours! Yes, you read that right. It was exciting to get up to 20 mph on the highway, let me tell you. So that put me getting to day care at 6:25 pm, and day care closes at 6:30. Both kids were in a good mood, we were going to meet Kevin out at a restaurant, everything seemed fine. Next thing I know, Sarah is screaming at the top of her lungs, and I realize that she's got her fingers stuck in the center console of the back seat. Apparently she somehow got her fingers in the right spot where the cover of the cup holder couldn't shut or open, and I had to pull her fingers free, scraping one finger pretty badly. Sarah continued to cry and scream at the top of her lungs all the way to the restaurant, with me saying we couldn't go in, etc., etc. Finally we get there and Kevin could see us from his table, so he came out to help (Nathan was also crying at this point). We go in, Sarah promises to keep her crying to a minimum with no screaming. We order, the food gets there, and soon after Nathan's first bite, he starts throwing up - over and over! Of course they only have cloth napkins, so some lucky person will get to launder those, but I think we went through 6 or so - including the napkins the waiter brought us. I think we tipped the waiter about 40%. Nobody needs to deal with that. Yep, so dinner ended up being boxed and eaten at home. Now it's 9 pm and we've finally gotten both kids in bed. Now where is my glass of wine?
ps - Nathan is fine. It's his asthma that does this. He gets a cold, it goes to his chest, and as everything starts breaking up, if he starts coughing while eating...he gets sick. Poor kid.

I mean, whoever thinks parenthood makes your life less exciting has got it all wrong! : )
