Soccer a la Nate

We put Nate in soccer this past spring. He was on Team Lightning. He's been dying to do something since he watches Big Sister Sarah do all sorts of things. We got him onto a team with a couple of boys whose parents are friends, so it was also a bit of a social occasion for us. We thought he'd be into it - Nate is the child who before he was two, would climb up on the couch and want to watch football with Kevin.

Nate had a great time playing soccer, and if you ask him what he wants to play next, he says, football, flag football, baseball, soccer, basketball, tennis, golf, hockey - all next fall! For some reason, every game I took pictures at were when they wore the black shirt. Not a good color for a very fair-skinned person! I hope he never goes goth...

I almost forgot to include how his team did. Overall, they played pretty well. There were 6 kids on their team - three had played in the fall, and then Nate and our two friends' kids were new. The league doesn't keep score at this level, but the kids did. In fact, Sarah often kept score on paper, including the names of the kids who scored. If you know anything about the Astros, I wonder if we don't have a mini Barbara Bush on our hands!

First game, he's got the ball

(his best game by far)

You can't exactly see Nate's goal, but this
was his first one ever. We're so proud!
