Austin Zoo

We thought we were going to Boston for our summer vacation, and when that fell through, then we were going to Port Aransas. That too fell through, and we have ended up staying in town for our summer vacation to do the things we always want to do, but never find the time for. Who knew we were so in with what others are doing this summer. In fact, the experts are calling it a "stay-cation."

So to begin our stay-cation, Kevin and I took Friday off and ended up having lunch and seeing the new Batman movie. Very, very good - we highly recommend the movie. Then we picked out some tile, did a few things around the house and then picked up the kids at school.

Saturday morning we headed down south to the Austin Zoo to finally check that out. We had heard it was pretty rustic, and they were right. There aren't any paved areas, it's all dirt, but it's pretty neat. Peacocks, chickens and some other type of bird walk around on their own. Sarah's favorite animal at first was the prairie dog, but that was also the very first animal we saw. After awhile, she would only tell us that her favorite animal was all of them.
Stay tuned. We're heading to Sea World in the morning!

I just thought this was a really pretty bird

Kevin's favorite animal is the tiger and these are really close!
